Dr. Robert J. Garofalo brings commitment to both clinical excellence and patient comfort to his practice. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Fordham University in 1991, he went on to New York University Dental School where he earned Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1995. After completing dental school, he continued his training with an intense year long hospital residency at North Shore University Hospital in Manhassett, Long Island. That opportunity provided Dr. Garofalo with valuable experience in many important facets of dentistry such as cosmetics, periodontal surgery, root canal treatment, acute dental trauma care, oral surgery and pediatrics, just to name a few. Dr. Garofalo was named one of ‘America’s Best Dentist’ in 2010.
Dr. Garofalo is certified in Invisalign Orthodontics.
One of Dr. Garofalo's significant accomplishments was becoming certified to use the Invisalign System of clear ‘braces’. This is a wonderful option for teen and adult patients who want to go unnoticed to refine the look and position of their teeth without traditional, and sometimes unsightly wires and brackets. Lost your retainer from when you had braces? No problem. Dr. Garofalo can fabricate retainers quickly & easily to prevent shifting of teeth.
About the Academy of General Dentistry Dr. Garofalo is proud to have been recognized by his colleagues by receiving the prestigious 'Fellowship' status into the Academy of General Dentistry, denoted by the letters ‘FAGD’ after his name. A Fellow in the Academy "has been recognized by other dentists as a leader who is committed to quality patient care and proficiency through continuing dental education." An FAGD dentist must earn a minimum of 500 approved continuing dental education credits and pass a comprehensive 400-question examination; he must also be an Academy of General Dentistry member for five continuous years.
Dr. Garofalo has a strong passion for continuing dental education and logs over 40 hours a year in a multitude of seminars, including Cosmetics, Endodontic Root Canal Procedures, Implant Dentistry and Patient Management.
Dr. Garofalo is an area resident and very active in the community, local church, Knight’s of Columbus, and Long Hill Lion’s Club, and even sponsors many local children’s sports teams. His hobbies include running, SCUBA diving, cycling, playing guitar and writing music. His desire to excel is displayed by his attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and 4th Degree Knight. He enjoys spending time with his wife Susan and their two daughters, Emily & Danielle.
